Referring to recent announcements of renowned automobile manufacturing companies one can predict that the automobile market of India will surely get flooded by electric vehicles in the near future. A month after month automobile companies are showing off their near future projects which are mostly based on electricity. Some companies like Tata had already unveiled their few electric vehicles. TATA has announced that 4 new electric vehicles will be launched by the end of 2021.

  

TATA has already launched an electric version of TATA Tigor but not commercially, the electric versions of TATA Tigor are available to only fleet operators and cannot be bought by an individual customer.

The electric version of TATA Tigor is known as TATA Tigor EV available in two models Tata Tigor XM and TATA Tigor XT. The Tigor EV comes in color variants Pearlescent White, Egyptian Blue, and Roman Silver.

Driven By

As TATA Tigor EV is an electric vehicle it is driven by 40 PS electric motor which produces a torque of 105 Nm. The car can maximum reach the speed of 80 Kmph. Beneath the bonnet lies the same electric motor with ELECTRA EV written on top.

  

Powered By

To run the electric motor which draws the car, Tigor EV has a battery of 216 Ah having an energy density of 16KWh. The same fully charged battery can offer a range of 142 Km. The battery supports fast charging using a DC charger which can charge the battery from 0 to 80 % in 90 minutes. The standard AC charger requires six hours to charge the battery fully.

Looks

Look wise the TIGOR EV looks almost the same as TIGOR which runs on IC engine. The front of the car is charmed by the chrome outlining the front grille and EV tag at the same position where JTP is seen in Tata Tigor JTP. The rear end of the car comes with attractive LED taillights. The rear top has got shark fin antenna and LED stop lamp while the bottom of the sideshows of EV decals. The interior of the car gives a premium feel because the black color and alloy wheels of XT add to the beauty.

Price and Commercial Release

Currently, Tigor EVs are available to fleet operators only for Rs.9,17,049/- for the XM model and Rs.9,26,424/- for the XT model, these are Ex-showroom price including TCS, DPCC incentive and Govt. fame incentive. The commercial version of Tigor will pack more power than the current one and will give a maximum range of 200 Km, TATA is said to be currently working on the commercial version. The commercial launch of Tigor EV is very near and is expected around the end of 2020 or starting of 2021.
