The world-famous Austrian brand, KTM has launched a bike in over a liter segment and named it as KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The bike went official at ECIMA, and all the details and pointers of the ride are now known. So far the chances of the bike arriving India is very less but it is likely that it will come to India in different version comprising features and specifications suitable to Indian streets. The KTM Super Duke R will be available to customers of specific countries in the year 2020. The new bike is made lighter with a new frame and styling that brings along with it the muscular looks. The bike will have more modern electronics expanding the set of features.
Looks and styling
The KTM 1290 Super Duke R comprises a well designed sporty fuel tank holding extensions which make it look sportier. The most eye-catching thing of the bike is its bright orange frame which is complemented by few orange strips above headlights, orange decals at over body and orange text on the side of the engine. The bike features combining of two exhaust manifolds into a single chunkier one at the outlet and it can be the second stunning aspect of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Of course, the headlight and taillights are stunning at LED base and seemingly sharp contour.
Engine and Performance
The new KTM 1290 Super Duke R is lighter and more powerful as it KTM has re-designed its chassis and revised the fueling system. The ride has a twin-cylinder 1301 cc engine which produces the maximum power of 180 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The new fueling system will help in optimizing the engine performance, the bike is said to offer outstanding power, consuming less fuel. The just weighs 189 kg because of the use of aluminum and carbon composites in the rear sub-frame which also stands as a reason for better performance.
Features
The KTM 1290 Super Duke R has a host of features that assures safety and enables monitoring and controlling various parameters through a digital instrument cluster. The bike undoubtedly has supermoto ABS and it offers various ride modes that alter the engine performance depending upon the mode selected. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R like its competitors comes with a feature of smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth.
The bike has multiple sensors, for instance, a six-axis inertial measurement unit included at electronics to provide traction control. For the front wheel, the bike has Brembo Stylema brake calipers spanning an arc on the 320 mm disc.

The probability of KTM 1290 Duke R to arrive in India is very less, however, it may get launched in some different form (version) and is expected to price (Ex-Showroom) around Rs.13,00,000/- in India.
