A variety of engine oils are available in the market but not any oil which is randomly chosen is suitable for your bike. Most of the people in India there are commuters who prefer mileage bikes for their daily use to cut down the fuel cost and save some money. Mileage bikes usually have 100 cc to 125 cc of the engine while there are bikes of higher CCs also available in the market and their buyers too. So which oil is best suitable for low CCs and high CCs bikes becomes important as oil is one of the vitals of an engine.

There are mainly three kinds of engine oils available in the market namely

  1. Mineral oil
  2. Semi-synthetic oil
  3. Synthetic oil

For Upto 100 CC

Mineral oils are best recommended for bikes Upto 100 CC bikes as mineral oils are lighter and induce less stress on the engine. The oil change time of mineral oil is less compared to semi-synthetic or synthetic. Mineral oils are best suitable for low power mileage bikes as they don’t add on the load to the engine.

  • Shell Advance AX7 is oil available in the Indian market suitable for bikes Upto 100 CC.

For 100 CC to 150 CC

Semi-synthetic oils are mineral oils with a slight touch of synthetic oil. As the CCs of the engine go high so does the recommendation of synthetic oils. Semi-synthetic oils last longer compared to mineral oils as they are less contaminated. For engines of 100 CC to 150 CC semi-synthetic oil is recommended as these bikes fall between performance and mileage bike and in the same way semi-synthetic oil is categorized between mineral and synthetic oil. 150 CC engines produce more heat and power than 100 CC’s hence to withstand that semi-synthetic oils are necessary.

For 200 CC and above

The bikes having an engine of 200 CC and above are called power bikes whose engines are designed for better performance and produce more power, which is achieved by burning more fuel and producing a lot of heat. Synthetic oils are chemically engineered mineral oil which is thicker than mineral oil so that on receiving heat oil becomes light enough to lubricate the engine and other moving parts. Synthetic oils are mainly developed to withstand the heat of high CC engines and retain its properties, unlike mineral oils.

Above all, it is advisable to use oil suggested in the vehicle’s manual which is suggested by the manufacturer.
