Compact SUV from Toyota ready for its global debut
A plethora of brands are nowadays into making compact SUVs and now it’s time for Toyota to unveil its sub-4-meter compact SUV with the name tag of Toyota Raize. Toyota Raize will be the production version of the Daihatsu DN Trec concept which was first exhibited in the year 2017. The other version of the same SUV will be sold by Toyota’s sister brand Daihatsu in specific countries and will be called as Daihatsu Rocky. The Toyota Raize will be globally unveiled in the month of November and will bring a host of modern features with it. When launched in India the compact SUV will rival the existing Hyundai Venue, TATA Nexon, Mahindra XUV 300, Ford Ecosport and other similar cars because of its sub-4-meter length and engine power which falls in the same category.
Looks
The Toyota Raize and the Daihatsu Rocky look almost the same. However, both have few unique-brand styling elements and features in some aspects. Both the compact SUVs will have rugged front and rear bumpers along with the slightly raised height and some more macho elements to complement its muscularity.
The front end of the Toyota Raize resembles the Daihatsu’s SUV, showing off its elegant set of headlamps and fog lamps design and also the rear is no different from the Daihatsu Rocky.
A glance of the interiors highlights a digital instrument cluster, few silver inserts, and driver tilted air vents. The Raize has a boot space of 369 liters.
Features
Coming towards the features section very less is known on the Toyota Raize but what’s known is more fascinating and adds up to the curiosity. The SUV will have floating touchscreen infotainment for sure and other safety features will include Smart Assist, collision warning, and more. The brochures unveil other safety features like blind-spot monitor, automatic high beam control and lane departure alert system and expectedly it will bring with itself adaptive cruise control and panorama park assist.
Engine and Performance
The Toyota Raize will be drawn on the roads by a 996 CC petrol engine which will raise the power to 98 PS and produce a peak torque of 140 Nm. The same power will be transmitted to the coupled CVT transmission system to either all four wheels or just 2 wheels depending on the variant selected. The Indian version of the Toyota Raize is likely to have engines manufactured by Maruti Suzuki which can be expected from the recent start of the joint venture of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.
Launch
The Global debut of the Toyota Raize is likely to occur in the month of November 2019 but the launch in India will take some time and it is expected in the mid or later half of 2020.
Price
In India, the Ex-showroom price of Toyota Raize will fall in the range of Rs.10 lakh to Rs.14 lakh.
