Inspired by these changing trends, as reflected by their popular movies, scintillating music and fascinating culture, the fashion-savvy Indian youth aspired for a pair of denim. But, not many international brands offered the same. Moreover these brands were also out of the reach of the masses.

This marked the entry of Numero Uno jeanswear in India. The brand sourced the fabric from Indian mills, designed and manufactured a range of world-class jeanswear as per the preferences of the masses and, unleashed a wonderful era of denim fashion in India. The country loved this brand and acknowledged its affair with denim with its Numero Uno choice.

Today, Numero Uno is one of the most admired brands of jeanswear in the country. Now the brand also offers a truly wide and marvelous range of casual wear with its famous collection of jeanswear. In fact, the new range is as wide as your imagination. There are cool and stylish shades, patterns and designs of Denims, shirts, tees, jackets, shoes and bags and accessories like perfumes, deodorants, wallets, caps and scarfs. Besides, Numero Uno is one of those very few names in India which can design, manufacture and market their own denim. Numero Uno’s exponentially growing market dominance is backed by its 2 state-of-the-art manufacturing units – in Gurgaon and Dehradun. Steadfastly focused towards quality, innovation and serving the mid premium to premium segment, the brand is growing by leaps and bounds and is now present at over 180 exclusive brand stores, more than 528 multi-brand outlets and many large format stores across the country. That’s why, they keep innovating, modifying and upgrading their creations to keep them totally in sync with today’s trends, aspirations and dreams. In 2012, they gave a new dimension to this approach by changing their logo to “NU” which also connotes “new”. CSR Initiative

At NUCL, they believe that their Corporate Social Responsibility goes beyond any existing horizon and, closer to those who truly deserve their help and support.That’s why NUCL’s new initiative includes villages as it integrates them in the mainstream by involving them on various projects directly run by the company.

This unique initiative helps people from different communities by training and motivating them to work in such a way that it ensures their overall growth and development. NUCL is working with an NGO to set up and maintain handlooms and train women to weave the fabric, which they buy from them. This further enables these women to earn more to spend on health & education of their family members. NU is also planning to sell these village creations as a special range for a special cause.

NU Green Initiative

Their passion for denim making is backed by their commitment for nature, greenery and green practices. Eco-friendly technology such as lasers, ozone & G2 have been employed in their processes to prevent the use of chemicals, excess water and thus, protect the environment. Many years ago, they stopped using sand blasting, which could affect the health of their workers.

Numero Uno not only believes in protecting natural resources but also recycling and reducing its dependence on them. For that, they use solar energy for water heaters (used in washing the garments), lighting the 10-acre campus that houses the plant, the head office and warehouses. These solar heaters help save up to 10,000 litres of diesel per annum. Wind ventilators are used to push out hot air from the factory floors instead of the industrial exhaust systems to reduce energy consumption.

Installation of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) have helped in recycling the polluted water, the recycled water is as good as fresh water and is used to water the plants in the campuses.

Their Gurgaon facility boasts of more than 600 fully grown tree that are over 30 years old. The greenery offers a healthy working environment to the workers and protects from sound pollution, thereby also making them responsible neighbours. In fact, Google Earth shows this campus as the biggest green belt in the Railway Road area of Gurgaon.
