DIY Cleaning Solution

You can either buy a store-made cleaning solution or make one at home. To take the DIY route, add 1-part white vinegar and 3-parts water. Then, fill this up in a spray bottle for easy use.

Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide

1. Unplug the water dispenser

Remember that your safety comes first. After all, you are going to be working with water. So, cut down any possibilities of power supply to prevent electrical incidents.

2. Prepare The Cleaning Solution

It is best to keep all the essentials handy, so your cleaning process can go smoothly. Then, follow the procedure mentioned above and prepare the solution for cleaning all parts of the water dispenser.

3. Drain all the water

Begin the process by establishing clean ground. Next, remove any water that’s already filled in the dispenser. This step will give you access to the reservoir for proper and easy cleaning.

4. Tackle The Reservoir

Drain it clean and fill it up with the vinegar cleaning solution. You may need to remove the baffle and the spill guard. It is best to clean these spare parts separately.

5. Scrub Clean

Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the entire area clean. Pay close attention to the nooks and corners and the mildew stains that can be seen through. Clean the dispenser and prepare an outlet to catch the water when you drain the cleaning solution.

6. Drain, Rinse and Dry

Drain away the cleaning solution from the water dispenser, so it passes through all the tubes and pipes. This will allow disinfection of those parts as well. Let all the solution drain out.

7. Rinse thoroughly

After the cleaning solution is fully drained, go ahead with 2-3 rinsing cycles to remove residue. Follow by filling the reservoir with clean water and rinsing the dispenser until you see clear water coming out. Finally, let the equipment dry completely.

8. Clean Removable Parts

Move on to cleaning the removable parts separately with the vinegar solution. Get all the faucets, drip trays, taps, and other parts together. Soak them in the prepared solution with hot water. After 10 minutes, scrub them thoroughly with a brush. Now rinse these parts and let them dry before placing them back into the dispenser.

Remember to avoid this process for the water bottle. You do not want it to pick up any vinegar smell.

Maintenance Tips For Water Dispensers

While a thorough cleaning process is required at regular intervals, you can still take good care of your water dispensers daily. Here are some tips for the same.

--> Clean the dispenser each time you make a bottle change
This step will ensure that your drinking water stays sanitary and keeps away from mildew and mould.

--> Don’t use the reservoir for placing anything other than water
Drinks such as sugary juices, fruit-infused waters, soda and more cause bacteria to grow in the dispenser’s internal parts.

--> Wipe down the dispenser’s exterior daily
Use a damp cloth or add a drop of mild soap to remove grease, oil or fingerprints from the exterior.

--> Drain the drip tray frequently
Ensure this step prevents the formation of mould in the water.
