What Is 5g What Is Highest Speed Of 5g Networks

5G technology explained, 5G network speeds compared to 4G, 5G Networks in India

The word about 5G is out and loud these days. Every network company out there is promoting their 5G offerings. We are sure you know the basics that it is an advancement in technology, but do you know about it in detail? A lot more goes behind providing better speeds for our mobile networks. So let us understand the fundamentals of 5G.

Meaning of 5G

Fifth-generation wireless is the latest technological advancement of cellular technology. It is designed to provide increased speed and responsiveness of wireless networks. With this technology, data can now travel at multigigabit speeds. Furthermore, these speeds also improve reliability and lower latency below five milliseconds (ms).

Network and services with 5G technology will be deployed in the coming years to cater to the increasing reliability of mobile and internet-enabled services. As technology sees the light of day, 5G is expected to affect more areas of our life with a variety of new uses and applications.

How Does 5G Work?

A combination of various advanced technologies and frequency bands come together to make this technology possible. This includes advancements such as network slicing, massive MIMO and beamforming. Collectively, these features pave the way for several new services and applications, such as autonomous vehicles, AR and VR and IoT.

This network operates in a variety of frequency bands. The mmWave bands provide higher bandwidths but might get interrupted by blockages. On the other hand, the sub-6GHz bands typically help with better transmission through walls and obstacles.

Beamforming is one technology that enables faster speed in 5G networks. This technique connects multiple antennas to a direct radio signal and directs them to a specific device or a group of devices. As a result, there is an improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio, promoting faster data transfer.

Another technology called Massive MIMO is also used for improved performance in 5G. It sees the use of many more antennas at the base station compared to previous generation networks like 4G and 3G. Hence, faster speeds, lower latency and efficient spectrum use are possible.

Lastly, network slicing comes into the picture for 5G technology to create multiple virtual networks within a single physical network. With this, different types of traffic can be handled separately for efficient performance.

Highest Speed of 5G Networks

Many network companies have introduced their 5G offerings in India. Hence, customers are experiencing super-fast speeds as never before. Reports suggest that users have witnessed a massive uplift in their mobile experience with the advent of 5G. On average, they receive a download speed of 242.1 Mbps which has increased from 14.7 Mbps with 4G.

Regarding download speeds, 5G is 11.6 times faster than 4G. The technology provides a peak download speed of 690.6 Mbps. Even for upload speeds, the 5G network stays ahead with 21.2 Mbps which is 5.4 times faster than the upload speed of 4G.

5G Networks and Cities in India

Currently, two telecom companies- Airtel and Jio- offer 5G network services. Airtel has launched 5G in 12 cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Nagpur, Siliguri, Guwahati, Patna, Gurugram, Panipat and Varanasi.

The second major player Jio is offering 5G services in Varasani, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Nathdwara, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and the state of Gujarat.

These companies plan to extend their 5G offerings to more urban cities in the coming months.

Jio True 5G

The telecom giant claims its 5G technology enables users to experience life like never before. With faster internet, lower latency and better coverage, Jio 5G users can reimagine how they work, live and chill. Jio’s 5G technology is made in India and is the world’s most advanced next-generation wireless technology. The features include:

  • Lightning-fast data speed: With Jio True 5G, one can stream live events and concerts, download ultra HD movies in seconds and do much more.
  • Deep indoor 5G coverage: In homes, offices, or any other location, Jio’s True 5G extends everywhere with a 700 MHz spectrum band.

Based on the trials, the recorded speed of Jio 5G plans is up to 42.02 Mbps and 513.76 Mbps. Unlike other companies, Jio users need not change their sim cards to enjoy 5G technology. With a 5G compatible handset and network availability.

Airtel 5G

Airtel brings the world’s most popular 5G technology with 5G Plus. In addition, the company has chosen the most expansive ecosystem in the world, which will gradually lead to all 5 G-enabled phones in India being compatible with Airtel 5G Plus. In addition, Airtel’s 5G technology is good for the environment too. This is because the energy consumption per GB of data is much lesser than 4G technology.

With Airtel 5G Plus technology, users can enjoy the following:

  • Up to 30x faster downloads: Users can download any HD movie within a matter of seconds.
  • Watch 4k Videos: Airtel’s uninterrupted 5G Plus technology allows users to enjoy high-quality videos without buffering.
